Ben's Bells

The CommUnity Zone is joining Ben’s Bells Project and their amazing effort to promote kindness, strengthen our communities and ultimately ourselves as partners of this world.  Ben’s Bells is an organization which grew out of one mother’s grief and has become a movement to spread kindness. We at the CommUnity Zone are pleased to join them in their mission to inspire.

Each bell includes at least three clay beads, a bell, and all the pieces that tie them together. It has reached out to Newtown and done a “belling” there. . And now we’d like to think about joining this effort of promoting ‘kindness.’The Ben’s Bells program has expanded to more than creating and hanging the bells. It includes:“Be Kind, Step Up!” braceletsKind Kids program (elementary through middle schools)Kind Campus (high school and college)Kind Colleagues (workplace)Kindness Corridor – mosaic murals, benches, etc. The few of us who have already started talking about a “Power of Kindness” campaign here are really excited about the possibilities of all of these components, and it’s community impact. We want to involve a lot of community organizations that care about these issues, including your group. We’ve set up an evening to learn more about Ben’s Bells and the Power of Kindness – and make some clay beads for the bells at the same time.

If you are interested in sponsoring some “Be Kind Step Up” bracelets please contact the CommUnity Zone as soon as possible so we can get the order in on time for the festival. Our goal is to get $500 to buy these bracelets and hand them out at the festival when we witness acts of kindness. If we order 100 bracelets we get a 50% discount and the bracelets cost $5 instead of $10. We would also like to order “Be Kind” bumper stickers and “Kindness coins” to also give out at the festival. If we order 100 of each then we get a 20% discount making then .80 instead of $1 each. Any more money that is collected will go into buying Kiln “furniture” designed to fire the beads in a kiln without sticking them to the shelves. Bead trees run around $45 each and we could use at least 5. If you would like to make a donation, please make checks out to USAAA and put Ben’s Bell in the memo field and deliver to the CommUnity Zone at 419 Market Street, Lewisburg, PA 17837
